ALUMNUS ANN LIGUORI TO BE HONORED BY OHIO'S BRECKSVILLE-BROADVIEW HEIGHTS H.S.
ON MAY 8 NEW YORK, April 29, 2002 - - Ann Liguori, a leader
in the sports broadcasting and print journalism fields, will be inducted into
the new Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Ohio) High School Gallery of Achievement
on Wednesday, May 8, it was announced today by Chuck Catalano, chairman of the
school's alumni awards program. Liguori currently resides in Westhampton, Long
Island, NY, and Manhattan. According to Catalano, the Gallery of Achievement
will honor graduates who have distinguished themselves through personal development,
community service and vocational accomplishments. "I am delighted to
be honored in the first group of individuals to be inducted into my high school's
Gallery of Achievement," said Liguori. "I owe much of my success to
the faculty and administration at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, and
attending the award ceremony will give me an opportunity to spend time with some
of my favorite teachers, my family and many of my old friends." In addition
to her success in the sports communications industry as a talk show host, interviewer,
producer, reporter, author and journalist for radio, television and print media
outlets, Liguori spends much time speaking to young audiences, advising them on
how to succeed in life and in their careers. She is also actively involved in
helping many charities, raising money for worthy organizations such as the Leukemia
Society, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association and
the American Cancer Society, for which she organizes a yearly celebrity golf tournament.
In 2001, Liguori became the first woman in the sports media to be honored with
the prestigious Association for Women in Communications' "Headliner Award,"
the group's highest honor which it bestows upon a professional member on the basis
of recent national or international accomplishments. Previous recipients include
such other renowned professionals as Katherine Graham, Barbara Walters, Sylvia
Porter and Gail Sheehy. Liguori is president of her own television production
company, Ann Liguori Productions, as well as owner and host of the award-winning
"Sports Innerview with Ann Liguori" weekly television series, which
is seen on regional sports networks throughout the country. Her resume also includes
being the first woman to host a call-in sports talk show on WFAN in New York,
the first radio station to go to an all-sports format in 1987 . . . and she continues
to host a weekly show, as well as covering the Major golf and tennis championships
for the station. Liguori is the author of "A Passion for Golf - Celebrity
Musings About the Game," a book featuring a collection of interviews she
has done while on the golf course with some of the most successful celebrities
in sports, Hollywood, music and business. She has also produced for the Audio
Book Club, "A Passion for Life, Celebrity Musings from the Fairways,"
which is an audio version of some of her top interviews. |
