NEW YORK, April 29, 2002 - - Ann Liguori, a leader in the sports broadcasting and print journalism fields, will be inducted into the new Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Ohio) High School Gallery of Achievement on Wednesday, May 8, it was announced today by Chuck Catalano, chairman of the school's alumni awards program. Liguori currently resides in Westhampton, Long Island, NY, and Manhattan.
According to Catalano, the Gallery of Achievement will honor graduates who have distinguished themselves through personal development, community service and vocational accomplishments.
"I am delighted to be honored in the first group of individuals to be inducted into my high school's Gallery of Achievement," said Liguori. "I owe much of my success to the faculty and administration at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, and attending the award ceremony will give me an opportunity to spend time with some of my favorite teachers, my family and many of my old friends."
In addition to her success in the sports communications industry as a talk show host, interviewer, producer, reporter, author and journalist for radio, television and print media outlets, Liguori spends much time speaking to young audiences, advising them on how to succeed in life and in their careers. In 2001, Liguori became the first woman in the sports media to be honored with the prestigious Association for Women in Communications' "Headliner Award," the group's highest honor which it bestows upon a professional member on the basis of recent national or international accomplishments. Previous recipients include such other renowned professionals as Katherine Graham, Barbara Walters, Sylvia Porter and Gail Sheehy.
Liguori is president of her own television production company, Ann Liguori Productions, as well as owner and host of the award-winning "Sports Innerview with Ann Liguori" weekly television series, which is seen on regional sports networks throughout the country. Her resume also includes being the first woman to host a call-in sports talk show on WFAN in New York, the first radio station to go to an all-sports format in 1987 . . . and she continues to host a weekly show, as well as covering the Major golf and tennis championships for the station.
