Ann Liguori's Biography
Ann Liguori is among the most versatile and well-respected broadcasters, authors and entrepreneurs in America today. The Ann Liguori Foundation, with an annual charity golf event and a dinner-dance in The Hamptons, reveals the depth of her character and commitment to doing good work for the community and for causes she believes in.
Ann hosts her own Sports Innerview with Ann Liguori weekly radio show, every Saturday morning from 9-10 am, on WLIU 88.3FM, broadcast throughout the East End of Long Island, the Gold Coast of Long Island, Westchester and southern Connecticut. Ann discusses interesting topics in sports with top names in sports, entertainment and business. Her guests include athletes, owners, coaches, authors, reporters, agents and celebrities. Ann often broadcasts her shows from venues throughout the world. Each year, Ann broadcasts, live, from The Masters at Augusta National; the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open Tennis, Ryder Cup, etc. Special broadcasts have originated from venues including Doonbeg Golf Links in western Ireland, Rose Hall Resort and White Witch Golf Course in Jamaica, on board the Holland America Cruise Line on a surfing cruise to Mexico, Seabrook Island in South Carolina, the Mayakoba Golf Resort in Cancun, Mexico and Disney's World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.
Ann is the president of her own television production company and owner of the award-winning Sports Innerview with Ann Liguori cable show, a weekly series broadcast throughout the country. The program is the longest-running sports show hosted, owned and produced by a woman, having aired weekly from 1989-2003. Ann continues to host and produce ‘specials’ of this series. Ann is one of the original WFAN-NY Radio sports talk show hosts. Ann is the station's golf correspondent and tennis correspondent and each year covers The Masters, US Open golf and tennis, PGA Championship and special events such as the Ryder Cup.
Ann has also covered six Olympics for the network radio rights holders as a play-by-play commentator, talk show host, reporter and interviewer. Her most recent Olympic assignment was alpine play-by-play commentator at the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy for Westwood One Radio Network.
Ann was the first woman to host and produce her own weekly prime-time show, Conversations with Ann Liguori, which aired on The Golf Channel, the first three seasons of the channel’s inception.
Ann also hosted and produced the celebrity golf segment on the nationally-syndicated, Golf 2000 with Peter Jacobsen.
In 2001, Ann was the first woman in sports media honored with the Association for Women in Communication's Headliner's Award, previously given to Katherine Graham and Barbara Walters, among others.
Her book - A Passion for Golf - Celebrity Musings About the Game - features a collection of interviews on the golf course with some of the most successful celebrities in sports, Hollywood, music and business. Ann narrated and produced the book into an audio book, A Passion for Life, Celebrity Musings from the Fairways.
Ann has been a celebrity spokesperson and marketing consultant for Bobby Jones Golf clubs, Tri-Bag, Taylor-Made Adidas, IZOD Club and has produced shows for dozens of sponsors including Tourism Ireland, Sharp Electronics, Volvo, Danskin, Lincoln Mercury, Federal Express, Advil, McDonalds, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Continental Airlines, Ashford Castle, Tralee Golf Club, Laurel Links, Morgan Stanley, Kiawah Resort Development, Callaway Golf, Orlimar, Ping, SuperShuttle, Desert Mountain Properties and Aer Lingus. Some of her WFAN radio sponsors include Rolex Jewelers, Select SPDRs, Tourism Ireland, Work Vessels for Veterans and SP Industries.
In addition to her entrepreneurial and philanthropic work, Ann is a corporate spokesperson and motivational speaker.
Each October, Ann hosts the Ann Liguori Foundation Charity Golf Classic. In 2008, the tournament was held at the prestigious Maidstone Club in East Hampton, New York. Now in its 13th year, the tournament has raised more than $1.2 million for cancer research and prevention. The charity golf event raises money for the American Cancer Society and for Healthy Children, Healthy Futures, teaching young people about good nutrition and fitness for over-all good health benefits, As a result of last year’s golf event, the Ann Liguori Foundation funded this nutrition educational program and are thrilled to announce that the program has been implemented in the Southampton Middle School in the fall of 2009!
Ann plays in numerous celebrity/charity golf tournaments, served on the Board of Trustees for the National Academy of TV Arts and Sciences, served on the Board of the University of South Florida Alumni Association, where she has established an endowed scholarship in the College of Arts & Sciences in memory of her brother Jim. Ann serves on the Women’s Advisory Board of the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, is on the Advisory Board of International Network of Golf (ING) and is on the Board of the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association (MGWA).
